Electronic Monoblock for High-Viscosity Creams

For a leading cosmetics manufacturer, TorQ Packaging designed and built a compact, fully electronic monoblock dedicated to the filling and capping of high-viscosity face and body creams.

The goal of the project was to develop an extremely flexible machine capable of handling a wide range of jar and cap formats, while ensuring high dosing accuracy, fast format changeovers, and the possibility of expanding the line in the future without replacing the existing system.

The TorQ Solution

The line consists of an infeed table, a filling and capping monoblock, and an accumulation table. At a later stage, the customer will integrate their own labeling machine between the monoblock and the accumulation table, completing the line according to their production needs.

The core of the system is a 3 pistons servo-driven filler, an ideal solution for high-density products such as cosmetic creams, gels, and viscous formulations. The electronic control of the pistons ensures precise and consistent dosing, easily adapting to different product characteristics.

The capping section is equipped with a fully servo-driven capping head. All machine movements are electronically controlled: from the container infeed screw to transfers, axial movements of the capping head, the Pick & Place system, and the starwheel handling.

This architecture allows every phase of the process to be controlled with maximum precision, increasing reliability, repeatability, and ease of adjustment.

A Machine Designed for Maximum Versatility

One of the most important aspects of the project is the machine’s ability to handle a large number of product formats.

The system was supplied with 11 container formats and 11 cap formats, all selectable via recipes stored in the operator panel.

Format changeovers are extremely fast: it is sufficient to replace a few dedicated components and recall the corresponding recipe to automatically set all machine parameters.

The cap feeding system has also been designed to minimize setup times, making format change operations simple, fast, and repeatable, while significantly reducing machine downtime.

Attention to Detail

The machine has been developed to handle different types of closures, including screw caps and metal Twist-Off caps, including chrome finishes and particularly delicate surfaces.

Special attention has been given to the design of handling and gripping components to prevent scratches, marks, or aesthetic damage during all feeding and capping phases.

An Investment Designed for the Future

Although built as a compact monoblock, the machine base has been designed with a modular and separable structure.

This feature will allow the customer, in the future, to insert additional automatic modules between the filling and capping sections, such as a station for applying protective inner seals (foil), without replacing the existing system.
